Having a Facelift

As we grow older our facial muscles naturally start to lose tone and elasticity.Genetics, lifestyle, weight fluctuation and environmental factors can all influence the rate and degree to which our muscles will lose their tone. As we all know, first impressions count and a sagging face can make you look tired, miserable and older than your years.

Microcurrent therapy was originally developed as a medical application to treat facial palsy. Muscle tone was restored by applying tiny micro-current electrical impulses to the affected muscles The idea behind Microcurrent treatments is that the electric current mimics the electric currents of the body important in cell processes.Today this proven technology is now available as a painless treatment and is commonly referred to as “facial toning” or “the non surgical face lift”. Enthusiasts of microcurrent facials include doctors and dermatologists like Nicholas Perricone MD.

During each 1 hour treatment session all 32 facial muscles are gently manipulated and re-educated by a trained therapist using a series of precise movements. Soft cotton tipped wands are used on the face to transmit the micro-current energy to the facial muscles to restore tone and elasticity. Results are visible after the very first treatment but a course of 10-15  treatments is generally recommended. After a course of CACI facial toning treatments, facial contours will look lifted and toned. A monthly booster  treatment is recommended to maintain results.

 ABOUT CACI

The word CACI means:
Computer Aided Cosmetology Instrument

The CACI treatment has had over 20 years of medical research behind it and is completely safe and painless. The original CACI non-surgical face and body lifting treatment was devised by Dr. Thomas Wing of the United States. Originally, the procedure was used to treat victims of bells palsy and strokes, but it was noted that when treating the affected side of the face, it actually lifted higher than the unaffected side.

In 1991 CACI first came to England and was described by the media as the non-surgical face-lift. Previously, the CACI system had only been used in the sports field for muscular injuries. For example, Carl Lewis from the USA endorses the treatment, and so does the Canadian Olympic team. CACI applications are also widely used in hospital burn units and by many physiotherapists for pain relief.

CACI uses a tiny micro current, which helps to tone, lift and re-educate the muscles back to their original position. Kinesiologists (muscle specialists) have demonstrated that any muscle can be re-programmed to accept or release its tone. The face has over 30 muscles that lie directly below, and are connected to, the skins surface. When muscles are stimulated they either contract (shorten) or expand (lengthen). It is the direction of the stimulus that determines which reaction takes place and this will be dictated by the positioning of the probes over the muscles.

In either case, proper firmness is re-established through the non-surgical procedure by correcting the sagging muscle, which in turn corrects the sag of the skin. The treatment also stimulates blood circulation, which helps improve muscle tone and counteract dryness.

CACI works on improving the skin tissue, eg; acne scarring, blemishes, sun-damaged skin, dry, dehydrated skin, problematic oily skin. It also softens lines and wrinkles and works to generally improve the skins texture and tone.

CACI works in harmony with the bodys own bio-electrical field. The body works using electrical impulses and the impulses provided by the CACI treatment are very similar, therefore the current is virtually sub-sensory. The client feels very little if anything at all. There is no visible muscle contraction, so therefore skin and muscle tissue respond very quickly to this type of stimulation.

CACI treatments are generally run as a course of treatments, averaging 10 - 15 treatments. Some clients will need more and some clients will require less; this will depend on the clients skin tissue and their muscle tone. It will not depend on your age! On completion of one course of treatment, another course isn't necessary. All you need to do to maintain the results is to have a monthly booster treatment.

The long term effects of lifes stresses and strains, eventually show up somewhere on the body, and the face is one of the first places to show signs of degeneration and sagging. The telltale signs are these; the skin begins to dry out, blotches of discolouration appear, muscles lose their tone, cheeks and jowls start to sag, wrinkles spread and deepen. We begin to look older than our years.

CACI was designed to retard the signs of ageing, to keep the skin youthful and glowing, and to keep the facial muscles toned. The treatment works on wrinkles and laughter lines, firms up sags and bags and tightens the muscles that make up the face. It not only improves looks, but also relaxes you and makes you feel better. Results are visible after the very first session although a course of treatments are required for more permanent results.

CACI will stimulate the circulation of energy to the facial tissues and muscles. This increases the rate that the skin produces proteins such as collagen and elastin and muscle tissue can be re-constructed. It therefore deals with both the skin and the supporting muscle tissue beneath it. It restores form and vitality to facial muscles that have gone soft due to lack of use and poor circulation.

The muscles in the face are like small elastic bands under the skin. As we grow older, they lose their natural firmness and elasticity, allowing the facial skin to sag. This sagging becomes particularly noticeable around the mouth and chin, where even the slightest slackness has an undesirable effect on the facial appearance.

CACI treatments are designed to give gentle exercise to the facial muscles, tightening and firming them, to reduce slackness and restore natural contour. Due to the sensitvity of the facial muscles, and the degree of exercise, facial improvement takes longer than improving the figure. The treatments improve lymphatic drainage of the face resulting in improvements in complexion and reduction of eye bags. It can be used to soften scar tissue and reduce the size of enlarged pores.
